A Guiding Compass for the New and Nervous: BDSM 101

Dungeons, Dominants, submissives, power exchange, bondage, masochism, and more…it is completely normal to feel a mix of excitement and intimidation with so many different terms out there but this workshop is meant to be an enlightening introduction to help ease those nerves. Whether your curiosity was sparked by a book, a movie, a conversation with a friend, or just a lingering question about your own hidden desires, this class provides actionable advice in a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space to explore the possibilities.

Our time is designed to give you a foundational understanding of the ethics and practical skills you need to navigate kink in a way that is authentic and deeply fulfilling. The scene can feel like a minefield of dangers and that’s why we created this workshop: to cut through the confusion, demystify the myths, and help you start your adventure with confidence, clarity, and safety at the forefront. Discover ways to mitigate the physical and emotional risks including how to build your own aftercare kit and vetting new play partners. No prior knowledge is required, just an open mind and a willingness to learn.

More topics that will be discussed include:

  • Overcoming stigma and shame
  • Roles and responsibilities for everyone
  • Managing expectations to avoid disappointment
  • Dungeon and other lifestyle etiquette
  • Dos and Don’ts of negotiations and informed consent
  • Understanding the lingo and structure of a scene
