VoxBody is pleased to offer two dynamic and playful classes with Tensegrity (Denver) during their Bay Area visit!
Join us on July 22 for Acrobatic Play for Suspension and on July 28 for Stomp & Grind. Our dear/local InkyVoid will be demo partner for both classes.
ACROBATIC PLAY FOR SUSPENSION:
This class will introduce concepts of aerial arts and partner acrobatics as elements of rough body play in rope suspension.
Learn how to perform lifts and drops with partner acrobatic techniques and how to climb on and hang from your suspended partner. This play can have both an athletic appeal AND a sadomasochistic appeal and also lends to stunning art and performance possibilities. Students will learn additional safety points and skills to play responsibly as well as special considerations unique to this particular type of play.
Ten provides valuable insights from years in partner acrobatics and 16 years as a professional bodyworker.
Class will include demonstration and hands-on practice time.
Prerequisites: All participants should be VERY experienced* in suspension.
Synthetic/reinforced uplines are required; attendees will not be permitted to suspend without them.
Persons in rope need the ability to navigate and communicate their sustainability in the air especially through challenging moments. They should also be experienced with 'active bottoming' such as muscle engagement and should understand their own risk tolerance with the ability to confidently communicate and uphold safety boundaries.
Those who tie should have experience in receiving and responding to live feedback from the people they tie, especially during stressful situations, and be able to adapt accordingly.
*VERY experienced in suspension = all participants have completed at least 20 dynamic suspensions that include multiple transitions, have suspendable chest harnesses they have successfully experienced in load in multiple directions, have high confidence in locking off and releasing uplines. Please take these prerequisites to heart; this class is built to challenge your suspension practice and you would be compromising your safety, your partner's safety and overall class safety to disregard the appropriate experience level for this class.
Tickets are sold per point and allow for 2-3 attendees per point. If you will be attending as a group of 3, please remember to keep your space confined to your point/in consideration of your tying neighbors. VoxBody will have a combination of single points and bamboo set for this class (our usual set-up) and attendees can claim either option first come, first serve. Be sure to bring all suspension gear needed for a single point in case that is what you end up working with!
If finances are a barrier for your attendance, please email us at voxbody@gmail.com; we have limited scholarship observer spots available for this class!
