Self-Care, During-Care, and Aftercare for Educators

Teaching, leading discussions, presenting, and offering educational opportunities can be an intense experience. It's not uncommon to see educators energetically crash, find them flying high, or end up in an array of emotional experiences after they are done for the day. Together we will look at how we can apply the kink concept of "aftercare" to help those who are helping others return to homeostasis after intense experiences. We'll explore how self-care systems can be used to set presenters up for success before, during, and after they teach, and come to name our needs with honesty and compassion - needs that range from the physical and logistical to emotional and energetic. Together we’ll “experience-storm” pathways for grounding, reconnection, and gentle reintegration so that soft landings become an intentional part of our teaching and life plans.

About the Presenter:

Lee Harrington (he/they) is a spiritual and erotic authenticity educator, gender explorer, eclectic artist, and award-winning author and editor on erotic and sacred experience. He brings a combination of playful engagement and thoughtful academic dialogue to a broad audience, and they believe we are each beautifully complex ecosystems who deserve to examine the human experience from that lens. They have been traveling the globe teaching and talking about sexuality, psychology, faith, and desire, and believe you deserve passion and connection in your life. His books include “Traversing Gender: Understanding Transgender Realities,” “Become Your Own Beloved: A Guide to Delighting In Self Connection,” and “Playing Well With Others: Your Guide to Discovering, Exploring and Negotiating the Kink, Leather and BDSM Communities (with Mollena Williams),” amongst many others.
