Crafty Kinksters: Special Project Night with Calypso

Special Project Night with Calypso: Up-cycled Flogger: Stingy, thuddy, or a bit of both… we will learn how to turn bicycle inner tubes into floggers. Duct tape, electrical tape, and paracord will be provided to finish your handles based on what looks and feels right to/for you. Scissors and lighters will be available for use to create the falls and/or to finish the handles. Several variants of the flogger will be displayed and relevant techniques (for desired sensations) will be demonstrated. You are welcome to use some, all, or none of the specific techniques… or to create your own approach. You are welcome to bring additional materials (for personal use or to share) that you may want to add to the flogger itself or to improve the aesthetics of your item.

About Crafty Kinksters: Crafty Kinksters is a monthly event (fourth Sunday of the month) to get creative with fellow kinksters. Bring your ideas, your supplies, and your artistic skills. The Ember Society is a shared space that welcomes all shapes and flavors of ideas. Some months, we will host CK Community Nights. Just a bunch of weirdos, bringing their own materials, supplies, and projects to work on in community. Good tunes, great vibes, and limitless possibilities. For CK Community Nights, we ask for a $10 donation (tax-deductible, to the Ember Society) to help us keep the lights on. Other months, we’ll host a Special Project Night, where we will provide materials and instruction for a specific kink-related craft project/item. A community member will teach a specific kink-related project, including a variety of techniques or strategies to personalize your item. The cost of class will include the required materials and related tools/equipment for the project as well as a contribution to the Ember Society for access to the space. You are welcome to bring other materials, supplies, or tools if you want to add some personal flair to your piece. About Calypso: Calypso (they/them) has been involved with kink for 16 years (in Chicago and San Diego). A switchy switch that's experienced with impact and sensation play, shibari, needles, electric play, and a variety of other mediums. They have provided impact and sensory tastings with Pick Your Poison and Topping for Impact at The Leather Realm as well as been a DM at several groups over the years. More recently, they have begun to embrace their role as a community elder and leaned more into community involvement and teaching. Calypso especially enjoys being a safe bridge for folks that are newly exploring their kink identities in safe and liberating ways. They are a true experimentalist and enjoy seeing the full range of what each playmate and each scene will bring out. In this Crafty Kinksters Special Project, Calypso will teach concepts and strategies to identify and create pervertables out of ordinary items. They will use their love of creating from repurposed materials to help participants look at the world through different, creatively kinky eyes.
