Creating Kink-Friendly Environments: A Blueprint for Professionals

This workshop offers clinicians, medical providers, coaches, social workers, and allied professionals a pragmatic, trauma-informed guide to engaging with kinky clients and supporting autonomous, alternative sexual expression. We will cover ways to be inclusive, risk assessment, and consent education to understand and guide those in your care. Our time will provide the fundamentals of BDSM and power exchange terminology so professionals can accurately differentiate healthy dynamics from self-harm, coercion, or exploitation. Learn about different items for regulation or sensory processing that cater to neurodivergent or anxious folks, whether during a session or their intimacy. Discover the ways in which you can help navigate triggers in their playtime so they can have more fulfilling experiences that protect their well-being. Gain insights on effective strategies for advising how to integrate these activities into their healing journey while avoiding pathologizing language.

We will also discuss more topics including:

  • Structured exercises to use in your office
  • Creating affirming, non-judgmental spaces
  • Marketing tips to promote yourself and services to your ideal audience
  • Guidance for exploring varied headspaces and roles to see what feels authentic
  • Ideas to help them recover from any type of play
