Curious Connections

Community Salon

Curious Connections is an interactive social experience designed to help people meet, mingle, learn, and explore in a low-pressure, community-oriented environment.

This quite unique event blends elements of a social mixer, play party, community salon, and general NYC nightlife — but with a hint of “counter-culture”. That means we bring together folks who are either already immersed in or simply curious about the fields of kink, polyamory, $ex positivity, gender, sexuality, etc. You’ll meet many different humans with various backgrounds, experiences, and stories to share!

Whether you're:

  • attending solo and hoping to meet new people
  • bringing friends, partners, or a date
  • new to “alternative” communities
  • curious and want to see what all the fuss is about
  • a passionate member of an “alternative” community and simply want to connect with your people!

...there are many ways to enjoy the night.

A place where conversations become connections, connections become experiences, and experiences become stories.

What To Expect

The exact programming changes from month to month, but the spirit remains the same.

Typical Activities Include:

  • 🧊 Icebreakers and Introductions
  • 🎲 Social party games
  • 🎨 Crafting and collaborative art projects
  • 💬 Conversation circles and guided discussions to help you actually interact with most (if not all) people at the event
  • 🍵 Tea, mocktails, snacks, and casual conversation
  • 🎭 Community performances and skill sharing
  • 🪢 Demonstrations and mini-workshops
  • 🕺 Dancing
  • 🛋️ Cozy spaces for deeper conversation, cuddling, kissing, kink, or other light “play”

Community Contributions Welcome

Curious Connections is a Community Salon, which means the people who attend help shape the experience.

Have something you'd like to share?

You might offer:

  • 🎭 A performance, reading, poem, or piece of music
  • 🎨 A craft activity or creative project
  • 🪢 A skill, demonstration, or mini-workshop
  • 🍪 Homemade baked goods or snacks (list allergens please)
  • 💡 A conversation topic, discussion prompt, or interactive activity
  • ✨ Something else you're excited to bring into the space

If you have an idea, we'd love to hear it. Email us in advance and tell us what you have in mind. We can workshop logistics with you.

While we can't accommodate every proposal, we're always looking for ways to showcase the talents, passions, and creativity of our community. Contributions are selected based on available space, timing, safety considerations, and how well they fit the spirit of the evening.

There is absolutely no expectation that guests contribute anything beyond their presence. Participation is enough. But if there's something you love sharing with others, Curious Connections is designed to be a place where that offering can find a home.

Not Welcome

  • Pressure
  • Entitlement to anyone's time, attention, or body
  • Harassment or disrespect
  • Sexual interactions involving genitals or body fluids
  • Acting without consideration for mutual desire and enthusiastic consent

A Culture of Grace

  • Not everyone arrives with the same language, experience, confidence, or social skills. We ask participants to approach one another with generosity, patience, and curiosity.
  • Psychological safety does not mean the absence of discomfort. It means creating an environment where people can take interpersonal risks without fear of humiliation, coercion, or disrespect.
  • If someone makes an honest error due to lack of experience, it’s important they be gently redirected. This is not the same as negligence or intentional harm, which is not acceptable.

Acknowledgement & Assumption of Risk
By attending this event, you acknowledge that activities involving social interaction, touch, kink, intimacy, etc. carry inherent risks, including the possibility of physical or emotional harm.
While organizers, facilitators, volunteers, and the venue work to promote consent, communication, and harm reduction, no environment can be made completely risk-free.
By choosing to attend, you voluntarily assume responsibility for your participation and agree not to hold the organizers, facilitators, volunteers, venue, or affiliates for injuries, losses, or damages arising from your attendance.
Part of safety culture is acknowledging that human error can occur. As a community, we strive to reduce harm, communicate openly, and respond responsibly when concerns arise.
