Dancing With Our Parts

“I came to accept and appreciate a part of myself that I have always hated.” - Past Participant

Experience the transformative power of Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed embodiment and dance practices to cultivate deeper connection with mind, body, heart, and your highest Self.

We all have parts of ourselves that we feel frustrated with (looking at you: inner critic, people pleaser, body shamer…etc).

We may try to release or muzzle these parts, but often, what we resist persists.

IFS invites us to build a different relationship with these parts based in compassion and collaboration.

It turns out that when we lovingly witness these parts, they tend to chill out.

In this workshop, we’ll learn what parts are and how to identify them, connect with our "Self energy" (compassionate witness, higher self, etc.) and begin connecting with a chosen protective part through meditation and movement.

As we learn about parts’ fears and protective intentions for us, they come to soften and allow Self to lead.

“I learned how much joy there is inside me. I was surprised how pleasant and playful my parts were when I started paying attention.” — Past Participant.

A reminder that while this workshop has healing impacts and draws on IFS, it is not therapy or a substitute for therapy. This is a gentle and consent-based, yet potent practice. “Slow is fast” – we move at the speed of trust and of our nervous systems.

Sophia Zheng is an embodiment coach who helps people move from overthinking and overriding themselves into deeper trust in the truth their body already knows. She is Co-Active trained and has studied with Joe Hudson, Lynda Caesara, Judith Blackstone, and Terri O'Fallon. Having facilitated over 150 workshops and group sessions, she delights in tracking people's nervous system regulation, attachment patterns, and self-alignment.
