On Saturday, October 17, class is back in session at Stopgap, and this is one night when getting in trouble is strongly encouraged.

Forget everything you learned about behaving yourself.

DETENTION is an adults-only night of kinky roleplay, fantasy, flirtation, and play, where the rules of the classroom get rewritten after dark. Come explore your fantasies in a welcoming, consent-forward environment filled with people who showed up for exactly the same reason you did: to have fun, connect, experiment, and maybe earn a little extra credit.

And yes, dress for the occasion.

Pull out the plaid, loosen the tie, straighten that skirt, grab your whistle, or put on something severe enough to command the entire room. Think cheerleaders, college students, professors, librarians, coaches, principals, teachers, nerds, jocks, rebels, and authority figures with very questionable disciplinary methods.

Or create a character entirely your own.

Come with a partner, bring your friends, or show up on your own. Flirt with someone across the room. Negotiate a scene. Find out who deserves extra credit and who needs to stay after class. Play, watch, socialize, or spend the night moving between all of it.

Two Floors of Very Adult Education

Upstairs, Stopgap's wheelchair-accessible main floor gives you plenty of room to meet people, flirt, socialize, and play .

Downstairs, things get darker. The basement dungeon is packed with equipment for putting all those inappropriate classroom fantasies to very good use, including crosses, spanking benches, bondage furniture, cages, hardpoints, and plenty of room to get yourself into trouble.

The bell rings Saturday, October 17. You can behave yourself any other night.

The Venue

Detention will take place at Stopgap in San Francisco. The exact address will be shared with ticket holders. For planning purposes, we're in SoMa, about a 10-minute walk from the UN Plaza/Civic Center BART station.

The two-floor building has a long history in San Francisco's kink community as one of the former homes of the SF Citadel. Today, Stopgap features a large, fully equipped dungeon playspace combining restored equipment from the Citadel with much of AfterDark's own equipment.

Stopgap provides safety and hygiene supplies, clean sheets, and more, creating an elevated kink experience where you can show up ready to socialize, connect, and play

Accessibility

The entrance to the space is on the ground floor, which includes lockers, social areas, two bathrooms, and an accessible play space. There are no steps on the ground floor. Each bathroom is single-stall, with grab bars on the wall and toilets mounted to the floor. The basement contains additional play areas and can only be reached via stairs.

There will be music playing throughout the night, and earplugs are available free at the front desk. Colored lights are used throughout the venue, including rotating “party lights” for ambiance. Please help us keep the space safer by staying home if you have symptoms of COVID-19, a cold, the flu, or another respiratory illness

Cell phones may not be used inside the venue and must be stored. If you need access to your phone for an accessibility or medical reason, such as continuous glucose monitoring, please speak with a host about reasonable accommodations.

Dress like you belong at a school where the curriculum has gone very, very wrong.

School-inspired, collegiate, academic, athletic, and authority looks are strongly encouraged. Think:

• Plaid skirts, kilts, button-downs, ties, knee socks, cardigans, blazers, and varsity jackets
• Cheerleaders, jocks, coaches, professors, librarians, principals, hall monitors, and rebellious students
• Prep school, dark academia, goth academy, punk school, and varsity looks
• Leather, latex, harnesses, collars, boots, and fetishwear with an academic twist
• Glasses, whistles, rulers, clipboards, letterman sweaters, and other accessories that complete the assignment
• Or simply take your usual kinkwear and give it a little back-to-school attitude

No costume? No problem. Fetishwear, clubwear, lingerie, leather, latex, or other sexy party attire is welcome. Street clothes are allowed, but we encourage you to make an effort. This is DETENTION, after all.

All school-themed roleplay and attire at DETENTION represents adults only.

Extra credit for creativity.

Connect

As with all AfterDark events, we'll have role stickers at the party to help identify and spark connections. We'll also be using our wristband system to make it easier for people to appropriately initiate social interactions.

Yellow wristband: You're comfortable being respectfully approached about the possibility of play.

Red wristband: You prefer not to be approached about play, although you may be open to conversations about other things. Let someone wearing red bring up play. Don't bring it up to them.
