Somatic & Elemental Conversation

Facilitated by Niki Caro

8:00pm - 8:45pm

In this class we will explore somatic conversation through movement as we use dance as a way to listen to the truth that flows through us and reflects around us. We will be activating this conversation by first listening to what the body and heart want to communicate in each moment - connecting to the elements of earth, water, air, fire & spirit that create our internal world. We will become the observer in noticing how our subconscious beliefs are communicated through our subtle movements.

Once we can truly listen to create awareness of our own internal dialogue - we can then communicate our truth and authenticity to others. We will activate the conversation with others by learning how to listen and speak through dance, how to communicate our story and actively listen through the dialogue and receptivity of movement.

Niki is a Somatic Embodiment Guide, teacher, facilitator, & creator - guiding individuals back into their truth through somatic healing. She has studied & practiced dance since she was a little kid and throughout her evolutionary journey, she now uses dance as a way to connect the mind, body, emotional, and spiritual bodies. Throughout her classes, she weaves inspiration from her studies in Somatic Breathwork, Contact Improv, somatic movement, contemporary, modern, jazz and hip hop dance, yoga, acrobatics, and meditation. It’s her deepest passion to share with others the freedom of expression and empowerment that dance has brought her.

Ecstatic Dance Journey

Featuring Luke Rain

9pm-11pm

Luke Rain makes cool, refreshing, bassy drops and brings the drip like a hip hop hippie. In both his DJ sets and his production Luke is able to bend and blend genres across the musical spectrum, flowing effortlessly between bass and hip hop, electronic and organic, left field and pop appeal. He finds himself equally at home at a festival, rave, renegade campout or ecstatic dance.

Luke Rain is a producer, DJ, performer and educator from Seattle, WA. Songs that he produced have totaled over 7 million Spotify streams, he has taught over 500 private producer and DJ lessons, has released 4 songs on ill.Gates’ Producer Dojo record label, many more records independently, and in 2024 will be releasing at least 8 songs on Equanimous’ High Vibe Records label and more on Willdabeast’s Grand Alliance label.

As a DJ Luke is a fixture in the NW ecstatic dance scene, and is expanding into the Southwest with a tour in the spring of 2024 culminating with a performance at High Vibe Festival in northern California.

Ecstatic Dance Agreements

1. Bare your feet (take off your shoes). Give respect to the floor and the space.

2. Speak with your body. Keep conversations off the dance floor. Explore non-verbal expression. Sound is welcome as part of the dance.

3. Respect everyone's body autonomy, including yourself. Witness a yes before touching someone (this is a non-verbal space). Be clear in your yes and no when offered touch. Approach from the front with integrity (and maybe some playfulness).

4. Be fully present. Leave your phones in your bag or by your water. Refrain from photos or videos in the space ~ so we can get weird as the moment calls.

5. Come sober, unaltered by substances. This is a drug and alcohol-free space. We dance together to pursue that emotional high.

Dance by yourself or with others. Work out emotion through dance surrounded by community. Dance with someone new. Continue to develop your dance expression with a long time dance partner or partners. There are many ways to be in this space with community.
