VoxBody is pleased to welcome Insignia back for a class exploring inversions in suspension! Whether you're working toward your very first inversion or refining advanced transitions, this all-levels class explores what actually happens to the body when we invert.
Open to tops, bottoms, and self-tiers, we'll cover the physiology and anatomy of inversions, how gravity changes circulation and body awareness, the role of the inner ear in balance and orientation, and why some people feel immediately at home upside down while others need time to adapt.
We'll also discuss proprioception, common physical and psychological responses to inversion, and practical ways to build confidence before ever leaving the ground.
You'll leave with a toolbox of conditioning exercises, drills, and training methods you can practice outside of rope to improve comfort, control, and confidence during suspension.
Class will include time for lecture, movement, demo and open tying for attendees.
This class is for Intermediate/advanced tops and bottoms with previous suspension experience. Self tiers are welcome. Every tying pair or self-suspender will have their own single point to tie on. Bring all suspension gear for single point suspensions! Every tying person must be able to tie a dependably suspendable chest harness and have good upline management. Tops and bottoms should have a shared communication practice while in suspension and be able to name and respond to issues as they arise, including dizziness and nerve impingement symptoms.
* If finances are a barrier for your attendance, please email us at voxbody@gmail.com; we have limited observer scholarship spots for this class!
About the presenter:
Insignia (she/her) is a Bay Area rope bottom, performer, and movement educator who believes that every body can be a rope body. Drawing from athletic training, corrective exercise, anatomy, physiology, sports medicine principles, and medical education, she explores how a deeper understanding of the human body can make rope more accessible, adaptable, and sustainable across a wider range of bodies and abilities. With over 15 years of experience teaching and performing elite athletics, classical dance, resistance training, dynamic flexibility, and corrective movement, Insignia is known for blending evidence-informed education with practical rope experience. Her classes focus on helping riggers and bottoms understand not just how to tie, but the body responds the way it does. Insignia's goal is to empower students to make informed decisions based on anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and individual variation.
