Freakquency & Friends: A BIPOC Play Party Experience

Something new is entering the frequency...

Since our founding, Freakquency has been about creating spaces where Black folks can gather in authenticity, pleasure, connection, and freedom. Along the way, we've heard from so many people asking if there could be space for the broader community of people of color who share our values and want to experience the same magic. We're excited to introduce Freakquency & Friends: a new BIPOC play party experience, and we'd love for you to be part of this first chapter.

Freakquency & Friends is rooted in the same intention you've come to expect from us: consent, care, community, liberation, exploration, and joy. While Freakquency will continue to center Black community, Freakquency & Friends expands the circle, creating opportunities for Black, Brown, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, SWANA, and other people of color who share our values to gather together in an intentional, affirming space.

Who are People of Color (POC)?

People of Color...

  • are visible minorities (POCs);
  • and/or have 1 or more parents who are visible minorities (sometimes called mixed race);
  • and/or have the lived experience of systemic oppression based on race, ethnicity, culture, mother tongue, place of origin, or heritage (have experienced social or systemic defined racism).

All intersectionalities of POC are welcome. If you are a person of color who is LGBTQ+, or has a disability, you are welcome.

  • Please note that while we love and appreciate our allies, this is a POC exclusive event.
  • Thank you to KPOC (Kinky People of Color) for the definition of people of color.

We welcome people representing every sexual orientation, gender expression, and body type, and with all levels of experience - from totally new and curious, to seasoned players. Freakquency & Friends is your space to explore, engage, and exhale. Please note this event is for folks aged 25 and up.

Health and Safety: We are committed to creating a safe environment for all partygoers. We do this two ways.

1) We ask that you administer a covid rapid antigen test on the day of the party. You can present a time stamped photo of the test you took at home, bring your own covid test to take on site, or buy a covid test at the door. If you will be taking a test on site, please wear a mask when you arrive.

2) If your play will involve fluid exchange, we ask that you get comprehensive STI testing far enough in advance that you have your results in time for the party.

Freakquency & Friends is an all-POC group of sex-positive folks that got together to create this event because we were tiredt of the lack of all-POC spaces in the Bay Area play community. We all volunteer our time to put this together for the love of community, so please be patient with our response time. For questions, please reach out to: freakquencyoakland@gmail.com.
