**Workshop Spotlight: Introduction to Rope and Bondage — Basic Rope**

New to rope? This beginner-friendly class is your starting point. We'll cover the fundamentals every rigger and bottom should know — basic ties, handling rope safely, body mechanics, and how to keep everyone comfortable and secure throughout a scene.

We'll also dig into the conversations that matter most: communication, negotiation, and consent — how to talk about what you want, set limits, and check in during play. Safety considerations (nerve awareness, circulation checks, and when/how to get out of a tie quickly) will also be covered.

No experience or equipment necessary — just bring curiosity and an open mind. Whether you're rope-curious or ready to tie your first knot, this class will give you a solid foundation to build on.

This class kicks off a 3-month series — by the end, you'll be ready for our next installment on Harnesses, hosted by @Astern!

**Instructor Spotlight: @Knotabrat**

Chris (@Knotabrat) is a bottom/sub-leaning switch who's been active in NYC's rope and kink scene since January 2024, exploring rope as a connective, somatic language and BDSM as a space for self-expression, shared energy, and joyful co-creation.

A passionate community builder and neurodivergent kinkster, Chris organizes two local munches — the movie-focused CineMunch and the neurodivergent-centered The Yap — and facilitates the Bushwick Rope Share.

Since 2020, Kinktessa has been turning heads with custom lingerie and fetishwear — think harnesses, sissy maid outfits, and everything in between. Designed by @Scarlet_Lab, a trained fashion designer, every piece is made to fit all gender identities and sizes.

While most clothing is made to order, Kinktessa will bring a selection of ready-to-go pieces to Geekaholic, along with handmade jewelry customized with text like Mistress, Yes Sir, Painslut, and more. Want something personalized? She'll have supplies on hand to customize jewelry for you, live at the event!

#### THINGS TO KNOW:

- This is a munch, meaning no sex acts will be allowed at this event, and kink is only allowed in the classroom area upstairs during relevant workshops/highlights. However, discussion is allowed and encouraged anywhere during the even! This is primarily a social gathering to meet fellow geeks and kinksters and enjoy a fun evening of games and conversation. - As always, this event is open to anyone and everyone to attend. We aim to create a safe space for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups. - Our events are at a *dedicated* venue at Prime Produce Co-op and are graciously hosted by PLAN Gaming (https://www.plangaming.org/), which is a non-profit incubator. All people present in the space will specifically be there for this event, so we can talk openly about kink and related topics.

- At Geekaholic, we believe in making our events accessible to everyone, so Geekaholic Munches operate on a "Pay What You Can" model. While we suggest a donation of $25, every contribution helps us sustain our partnership with Prime Produce and helps enrich our own future event programming.

- The space houses 90 games in its library and counting (see the full list on our [discord](https://go.geekaholic.nyc/discord)). But also, feel free to bring your own games! All board game skill levels, from newbie onward, are welcome!

- Our venue has a dedicated Jamaican café with liquor offerings on premises. Our events used to allow outside food and drink, but this is no longer the case. Exceptions can be granted to volunteers and people with dietary restrictions upon request.

- We usually play board games for about five hours and then go for drinks at a nearby bar. Everyone (21+) is welcome for both!

It is a good event for newcomers, providing a safe space to learn, socialize and establish a rapport within the kink community. *“Cruising” involves either mass messaging attendees or attending events solely with the intent of soliciting casual sex or advertising other events and not seeking meaningful connections. More generally, we also consider any messages, even towardf that show a clear disregard for people's boundaries as clearly stated in their profiles to be a form of cruising.*
