The Hoeregon Trail!

The Hoeregon Trail is a facilitated, social role-playing game inspired by the classic Oregon Trail—except this caravan is considerably sluttier, queerer, kinkier, and less historically accurate.

You'll create a character, join a traveling caravan, and set out together on an unpredictable journey toward your final destination. Along the way, your group will encounter unexpected situations, difficult choices, ridiculous setbacks, opportunities for connection, and plenty of chances to improvise.

Together, you'll decide how your caravan responds. You might need to negotiate with your fellow travelers, make alliances, flirt your way out of trouble, sacrifice something for the good of the group - or discover that someone has once again made a deeply irresponsible trail-related decision.

Your choices help shape what happens next, and there is no script and no single “right” way to play. You don't need role-playing or improv experience. You can be theatrical and ridiculous, quiet and strategic, flirtatious, competitive, collaborative - or simply see where the trail takes you.

The game is facilitated throughout the evening, so we'll explain everything you need to know as we go.

The goal? Get your caravan to the end of the Hoeregon Trail. But it’s the adventures you have along the way that matter.

Introductions & Icebreakers

Please arrive between 7:30PM - 8:00PM to participate!

Gather around the table and enjoy a facilitated role-play game version in which you join the travel caravan and take on the trail!

BYOB & Snacks!

We'll be serving a light assortment of snacks, mocktails, and/or herbal goodies. But feel free to bring your own snacks, drinks (alcoholic OK), or anything else for yourself or to share with others! Think of it as a wholesome community game night.

Keep things in the spirit of SATIRE and RESPECT please!

We encourage self-expression and exploration, but do ask you to use reasonable discretion. Please avoid:

• Non-Indigenous folks using Indigenous identity or sacred items as aesthetic or costume elements (In the same vein, we will not police how Indigenous folks choose to express themselves)
• Some cultural symbols carry deep meaning and are not appropriate for casual use.
• Scenes involving racial dynamics or racialized power play
• Content that replicates or targets real-world harm toward marginalized groups
• Pressuring anyone to participate in activities without their enthusiastic, embodied, consent.
• If you’re unsure, we encourage you to choose a different direction.

In-Game Safety, Consent, & Comfort

This space may include a wide range of expressions and scenes. Strive to check in with yourself and others - and exercise your personal agency:

• Respond in an infinite amount of creative ways
• Choose not to engage or observe
• Respond out of character by crossing your fingers
• Check in on someone using the "OK" sign
• Seek support from a Safety Supporter
• Provide feedback

We invite you to:

• Engage with curiosity and awareness
• Allow room for imperfection and growth
• Use creativity, satire, and embodiment to explore the theme in ways that feel both expressive and responsible

When we do this well, we create space not just for play, but for new perspectives, deeper conversations, and meaningful connection.
