July 4 Outdoor Rope Jam

Queer- and neurodivergent-centered rope jam OUTDOORS, somewhere in the vicinity of the Evergreen State College. Learn, practice, and connect in a low-pressure, consent-forward environment...IN NATURE! All experience levels welcome.

What's New This Time?

Advance ticketing is ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT THIS TIME, as T will be texting the exact location of our meeting site ONLY to those I know are planning on coming, about 30 minutes before the event. That also means a cell phone number will be REQUIRED with every ticket order this time. (If you don't want me to keep it for future use, just don't check the box saying you grant permission for me to contact you about future events.)

Please don't hesitate to ask T (contact info below) if you need a zero-cost ticket.

T's sweetie Matt (@XTCatalyst) will be in town for this jam! We'll keep it chill, since this will be our first 🤞successful🤞 attempt at an outdoor event, but if we decide to include some kind of skill demo, I'll be sure to offer self-tie options as well.

Bring a tarp and/or blanket to cover the ground and keep your rope clean. I'll have an extra or two, but not many, so please bring your own. And anything else you need to be comfortable outside for a few hours (water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, layers, camp chairs?).

My intention is to pick a spot that is some reasonable balance between accessibility and privacy: out of sight of roads and parking lots, but along one of the bike-friendly trails, not too far from Lot F, on the assumption those will also be kinder to anyone with mobility restrictions.

Where

The venue this time will be an OUTDOOR location somewhere in the vicinity of the Evergreen State College, which is serviced by (link: https://www.intercitytransit.com/plan-your-trip/routes text: our *free* city bus service) (route 32, stop at Overhulse & Driftwood).

Please remember to watch for a TEXT around 2:30 pm with the exact GPS coordinates of our meeting place! And text T (360-409-7673) ASAP if you have any questions, as I'm not sure whether I'll get service once I head back to the site.

Who

This gathering is for anyone 18+ interested in exploring rope and/or helping build a thoughtful, welcoming rope community in Olympia.

We center queer and neurodivergent experiences and strive to offer a space where those folks feel especially supported.

Cis/het men are welcome as participants, as long as the intention is learning, connecting, and practicing nonsexual rope. This is not a place to cruise or look for partners.

Self-tiers are warmly welcome — most demos will include self-tie options.

Rope is for every body.

What

We’ll start with a short welcome circle and consent & safety reminders, then use the rest of the time for open practice and casual peer-to-peer sharing.

You’ll have space to:

• tie with a partner if you attend with one, or if you find someone you’re mutually excited to practice with

• tie solo as a self-tier

• practice knots, frictions, flow, or concepts

• talk, observe, ask questions, contribute your own knowledge or opinions, or simply be present

No one will be pressured to tie with anyone. You get to choose your level of interaction.

This is a social and educational space, not a play party:

🚫 No nudity

🚫 No sexual activity

🚫 No explicit scenes

Floorwork only (no suspension points).

What to Bring

🪢 Rope & safety shears (I have a few extras for newbies to borrow, if needed)

🥤 Water bottle

🥨 Snacks for yourself or to share — just no eating (or shoes) on the mats

🧸 Any other aftercare needs (blanket, stuffy, pillow...whatever helps you feel comfortable and grounded)

About Your Host

I’m @ComplexiT on FetLife (T/they/she), a queer, femme-presenting nonbinary rope nerd, bottom-leaning switch, and self-suspender.

I discovered rope in October 2024 and immediately had my mind blown 🤯😍🪢 — I wanted to learn everything I could. Since then, I’ve taken private and group lessons, attended workshops and events in Seattle and the Bay Area with my long-distance partner @XTCatalyst (who co-facilitates the group with me when he's in town), and supplemented with online study and independent practice.

I’m building the OlyRope community to create a space that’s safer, kinder, and more accessible for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent rope lovers in the South Sound.

I facilitate in a collaborative, peer-led style, and I demo many techniques as self-ties so folks without partners have concrete, empowering ways to engage with rope. My goal isn’t to be “the authority” on anything — it’s to help cultivate a space where it feels natural and comfortable for all of us to learn from each other.

I’ve adopted the KEMS code of conduct and have nothing to disclose.
