Long Distance D/s 101: Presence without Proximity

Long-distance authority exchange is its own practice, with its own demands, its own gifts, and its own specific failure modes. The absence of shared physical space can change how authority is communicated, service is rendered, and the maintenance of intimacy, and how repair looks. We will talk about what authority exchange looks like at a distance.

We will cover:

• The structure of long-distance dynamics
• Rituals that work regardless of time zones
• Communication styles that create presence without requiring constant availability
• The specific discipline of maintaining a dynamic through a screen
• The particular loneliness that comes with practicing without proximity

We will also address transition points, such as what happens when distance changes.

PRESENTER:

Oak is a community educator, artist, and collared & Owned sub with decades of work & event production in the Leather community. As the creator behind Oaken designs, his artwork explores themes of devotion, reverence, and depravity through multiple mediums including resin work. Oak loves to facilitate conversations about ethical submission, embodied consent, and trauma-informed power.
