Magickal Menopause: A Radically Inclusive Ritual & Workshop Intensive

A Seven-Hour Experiential Workshop, Held in Ritual Space. Created and facilitated by Lasara Firefox Allen, MSW.

Menopause is not merely a medical problem to be managed. It is a threshold—a profound initiation that reshapes the body, the self, and the relationship to time, power, and belonging.

This full-day immersive workshop brings together the clinical knowledge of Genderqueer Menopause and the ritual framework of Magickal Menopause to create an experience that is as grounded as it is transformative.

We will move through the science and the ceremony together — understanding what is happening in the body, why it matters, and what it can mean when we step into the transition and start honoring it as initiation.

Who This Day Is For:

This intensive is for anyone navigating menopause or perimenopause who wants more than a symptom checklist. It is for people who are ready to understand their bodies more fully, to explore and to grieve–where that’s what’s real–what is changing, to claim what is emerging, and to do that work in community.

This space is radically trans-affirming. Language and frames are explicitly affirming of trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people. All bodies--cis, trans, and otherwise--and all paths through menopause are welcome here. And, gender-affirming care is a baseline that serves everyone. This space is inclusive, not exclusionary.

What We Will Cover:

The day weaves together two streams:

  • The brass tacks: The physiology of menopause and perimenopause, hormone shifts, common symptoms, care options, and how to advocate for affirming, competent clinical care
  • The initiation cycle: the three-phase arc of descent, threshold, and emergence as a framework for understanding and metabolizing the menopause experience

These two streams are not separate. The science and the ceremony inform each other throughout the day.

How the Day Is Structured:

We open with a welcome circle and move into the initiation framework, using it as the lens through which we will understand everything that follows. From there, we build a collective altar — an anchor for the day and a reflection of what each participant brings to the threshold.

The morning closes with grounded, accessible education on the physiology of menopause. We break for lunch, eaten onsite to hold the container, and return to the circle for somatic re-entry before moving into care options, provider navigation, and advocacy.

The day closes with a full-group ritual, drawing on the initiation framework introduced in the morning and the intentions held by the altar. We close in circle, with time for integration and reflection.

What to Bring:

  • A journal and writing or art implements
  • Altar items you will share with the space and take home at the end of the day, charged and dedicated
  • A crown — handmade, found, purchased, or improvised. Something that says I am sovereign in this body, in this passage.
  • A thin layer or wrap (rooms can run cool)
  • A personal fan for hot flashes
  • A yoga mat or blanket
  • A pillow for floor sitting if desired
  • Lunch to eat onsite so we do not break the container
  • Snacks for between sessions
  • Water for drinking
  • Comfortable, sensual, easy-to-move-in clothes

Some snacks and some art supplies will be provided.
