Monthly Weekend Bouldering: November

Come climb with friendly ENM folks on a Sunday morning! Rookies and experts, all are welcome! Monogamous allies, too.

Note that this event is being graciously hosted by Henry. Rene is out with an injury and can't climb for a while. Also! Top rope and bouldering are both welcome!

Henry, your host, will wait until 10:15 near the chairs and tables just beyond the front desk. For the sake of not outing anyone, there won't be name tags or other identifying signs. If you're running late, send me a message or drop a note in the group chat. Lunch afterward may happen, depending on popular interest.

Pacific Pipe is a Touchstone gym. If you’re not a member, you’ll need a day pass (currently $30). Also, if you have a member friend who is attending, they might be able to get you a discount. Prices here: https://touchstoneclimbing.com/pacific-pipe/pricing/

If you’re completely new to climbing: welcome! Climbing is solving puzzles with your body, folks are usually encouraging, and advice is always freely given on request.

For bouldering: You don’t need to meet any requirements to participate. Do know that the risks of injury are real, and that learning to fall properly is extra important! If you aren’t bringing your own gear, you should probably plan on renting a pair of shoes - they’re self-service and very convenient.

For top rope: two people are required, one to climb, and one to belay - this is the person who stays on the ground holding the rope. In order to belay, you will need to pass a test given by gym's staff. See their Safety page. If you're not bringing your own gear, you'll need to rent shoes, a harness, and a belay device.

We want this to be an inclusive, welcoming space for everyone, including all identities across gender, orientation, race, religion, and more. It's also undeniable that the vast majority of participants enjoy privileges from multiple hegemonic identities (straight, cis, white, man). Please do your part by being respectful, asking instead of making assumptions, and respecting people's boundaries. Be lovely to one another. If you encounter any problems, please send feedback via Plura DM to Rene.

Stoked to see everyone soon!
