Rehearsing Desire - After Dark Book Club Experiment

What happens when you take a provocative piece of literature, hand it to performers, and let the words get a little… physical?

As an experimental companion to this month’s Ink, Kink, & Drink book club selection (11/10/2026) , Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, we're taking the conversation off the page and onto the stage.

Rehearsing Desire is a proof-of-concept performance exploring themes of desire, power, submission, dominance, and fantasy. Think of it as a literary experiment with a healthy dose of theater, a dash of kink, and several raised eyebrows.

This isn't your typical book club or theater performance.

There will be performers. There will be power dynamics. There will probably be opinions.

And, because this is BOINK, we're interested in what happens when we stop treating the text as something to simply analyze and start asking what it feels like to inhabit the ideas inside it.
