Overview

Curious about rope but not sure where to start? Rope 101 is a beginner-friendly educational workshop designed to help you build a strong foundation in rope safety, communication, and essential skills. Whether you've never touched a rope before or want to strengthen your fundamentals, this event will build the knowledge and confidence to begin your rope journey.

The evening begins with a structured educational workshop and concludes with an open rope jam where participants can practice, connect, and continue exploring rope in a supportive community environment.

No prior experience is required. Come solo or with a partner.

Event Details

7:00 PM – 9:15 PM | Rope 101 Workshop

The first half of the evening is a hands-on educational workshop focused on the fundamentals of rope.

Topics include:

• Rope safety fundamentals and risk awareness
• Communication, consent, and negotiation basics
• Rope handling and management techniques
• Basic knots and foundational ties
• Tension control and rope placement
• Common beginner mistakes and how to avoid them
• Resources for continuing your rope education

This workshop is specifically designed for beginners and those looking to strengthen their foundational skills.

If you're new to rope and want to learn, we strongly encourage you to attend the workshop portion of the event.

9:15 PM – 11:30 PM | Open Rope Jam

Following the workshop, we'll transition into an open Rope Jam welcoming participants of all experience levels.

This is a space to practice skills, explore techniques, connect with fellow rope enthusiasts, and enjoy rope within a community setting.

The host will remain available throughout the jam to answer questions, provide support, and help troubleshoot challenges that arise.

Please note that the jam is not a formal instructional period. While guidance and support will be available, there will not be structured teaching or step-by-step lessons during this portion of the evening.

Access to the Rope 101 Workshop from 7:00 PM – 9:15 PM.

Jam Only — $25

Access to the Community Rope Jam from 9:15 PM – 11:30 PM.

Workshop + Jam — $55

Attend both portions of the evening and save compared to purchasing separately.

Equipment & Rope

No rope? No problem.

Rope will be available to borrow during both the workshop and the jam.

For those interested in building their own rope kit, we'll also have MFP rope available for purchase during the event so you can continue practicing at home.

To protect the space and ensure a seamless experience for all, doors will close promptly at 7:15 PM for the Workshop and 9:15 for the Jam. Late arrivals may not be admitted, and refunds will not be available. Refund requests must be made up to seven days prior.
