Rope Formations Workshop 204: The Cronch!

This progressive series focuses on not just the hows of good rope play, but on the whys as well. In the Formations level, we will be utilizing the tools learned in the Foundations level to build harnesses and ties for full-body bondage. Whether you are newer to rope or have been tying/getting tied for years, expect to come away with new tools and a better understanding of your rope from both sides.

Through a combination of technical instruction and hands-on time, we will explore the many ways to compress the body forward with either closed or open legs. Discussions will cover both practical and anatomical considerations for creating sustainable yet challenging cronchy positions. We will go over ties specifically to constrict the body forward (booty basket, moon tie, etc.), as well as leverage improvisation skills to create bespoke positions. If there is time and interest, we will also discuss ways to augment the positions with Microbondage elements (e.g. blindfolds, toe rope, etc.).

We will continue to refine skills for confident rope handling and building muscle memory.

Parts of this class can be self-tied. For those without tying partners or those self-tying, select the observer ticket option.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Attendees will be expected to be up to speed on the content covered in all Foundations level courses, including rope safety, single column ties, frictions and hitches, reverse tension, forward tension, hojo cuffs, how to extend rope, and how to lock ties with a half hitch.
  • Working understanding of upper body nerves, nerve vulnerabilities, and how to conduct hand checks.
  • If tying, you must be able to efficiently and without assistance tie an arms free chest harness that utilizes doubled shoulder lines (a shinju with doubled shoulder lines is fine). You may also find it useful to practice lower body ties like the calf binder or futomomo, but not required.
  • Working understanding of good rope handling.
  • If getting tied, you should have a good warm up prepared to warm up your shoulders, neck, and back and hips.

SUPPLIES:

  • 6-8 length of rope approximately 8m to 30’ (feel free to bring more)
  • You will also find having half and quarter lengths useful
  • Cutting tool
  • Tenegui or blindfold
  • Yoga/puzzle mat
