Ropespace: Solo Foundations

An Introduction to Rope as Presence, Communication, and Creative Expression

This is a beginner-friendly introduction to self-tying designed for individuals who want to explore rope at their own pace.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn foundational rope handling skills, basic knots, tension management, and simple self-ties while developing confidence, body awareness, and safe tying practices. We’ll cover essential safety considerations specific to self-tying and explore how rope can become a creative, meditative, and embodied practice.

No prior experience is necessary. Whether you’re interested in rope as an art form, a mindfulness practice, or the first step in a larger rope journey, this class offers a supportive environment to learn and explore.

This is a public event open to everyone, including both members and non-members of the Temples Alliance.

Facilitator Bio

Leah Brown is a Sarasota-based artist, facilitator, and rope practitioner who approaches shibari as a practice of presence, trust, and embodied awareness. With a background in intimate portraiture and emotional space-holding, Leah brings a sensitivity to nonverbal communication, pacing, and the subtle dynamics of connection.

Her work with rope emphasizes collaboration over performance, inviting participants to slow down, listen through touch, and engage with rope as a creative and meditative medium. Leah creates learning environments that prioritize clarity, consent, and nervous system awareness, allowing participants to explore with curiosity and agency. @ThatBodyWitch
