Synergy Sunday

On September 13, come create connections and community, and build a life-affirming culture in the Bay Area and beyond, while experiencing 200 Channels's biophilic regenerative-themed interior design.

For this gathering, I'm exploring alternating between mingling/self-directed conversation time and having speakers, performances, introductions, and conversations.

Synergy is the interaction or cooperation of two or more entities to produce a combined result that is greater than the sum of their separate effects. My intention is for the speakers and performances to feel synergistic. And by bringing together wonderful people, especially with small group conversations, I'm hoping it's easier for participants to make new friends, meet potential collaborators, and/or deepen existing relationships. May we be inspired and moved to create powerful synergistic outcomes.

Price Per Person:

* Sliding scale ticket price - $20-$40 would help me cover costs, $10 minumum for low-income participants. Includes snacks and salad.

* If you would like FREE admittance, please contact me about available VOLUNTEER shifts.

* Optional dinner ticket - Catered by Curry Up Now on Valencia Street - $20 vegetarian or $15 low income price. $25 with chicken too.

Includes: aloo gobi (cauliflower potato curry), saag paneer (spinach cheese curry), daal makhni (lentils and beans), chana masala (chickpeas), turmeric rice, riced cauliflower, naan, mini samosa. Butter chicken for the additional $5.

You may purchase beverages from the wonderful 200 Channels staff. Non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks will be available. 200 Channels is a 21 years old and over venue.

You may arrive at any time in the event and leave when you want/need to.

Tentative schedule:

5-5:30pm Doors open. Salad and snacks are served.

5:30-6pm Small group facilitated conversations to get to know some people at the event.

6-6:30pm Dinner is served. Grab a drink and mingle.

6:30-7:15pm First group of speakers, performances, etc

7:15-7:45pm Mingle, grab a drink, etc.

7:45-8:30pm Second group of speakers, performances, etc

8:30-9pm Mingle, grab a drink, etc.

9-9:30pm Small group facilitated conversations to get to know some people at the event.

9:30-10pm Mingle, etc.

Featured Speakers, Poets, and Musicians for the September 13th Synergy Sunday:

BEN TREFNY, Executive Producer of KALW, will be speaking about the Warfield Commons, a nine-story office building purchased with the Community Arts Stabilization Trust (CAST), which works to secure permanent locations for Bay Area arts organizations. The building will house other local orgs such as Tenderloin Community Benefit District, SF Public Press, Litquake, and Psyched! Radio SF. This is an amazing example of community empowerment literally amplifying voices.

LYN PATTERSON, educator, dancer, writer, artist, and host of Adult Happy Hour. Lyn is a deeply invigorated storyteller who delves into themes such as identity, equity, overcoming trauma, accepting your wild and learning to listen to your intuition. Lyn is specifically inspired to write about black diaspora, ancestors, and those who have been historically and politically marginalized in our society, as a means of empowering future generations with their stories.

Adult Happy Hour is a podcast that discusses and shares information regarding sex, sensuality, eroticism, and pleasure. It creates space for crucial conversations without the shame, guilt, and/or taboos.

CHANA WILSON, Author, Storyteller, Audio Producer - part of a 70s/80s pioneer lesbian radio show. In one extraordinary episode , she interviewed her mom, who came out to her as being lesbian herself after years of electroshock therapy and institutionalization to try to cure her of her depression from not living an authentic life.

AMY OBENSKI is a singer, musician, songwriter, poet, producer, and teacher. At the heart of her work is a devotion to connection. LOCATION:

This will take place at 200 Channels, the SF special events and performance venue connected to Monarch Nightclub and Pawn Shop Restaurant. The interior design was imagined, built, and installed by CreatingAS1.

The aesthetic story is about regeneration. One side depicts the relationship between forests and water, while the other depicts how fire and decay are also part of new beginnings. Throughout the space are representations of different plants and creatures. The interior design uses eco-materials including rice straw MDF, Hempwood, plant-based resin, reclaimed wood, and reclaimed glass.

Enter through The Emperor's Drawing Room of Monarch Club, which is on 6th St just south of Mission St. (Look for the Emperor's Drawing Room sign on the side of the building and right over the doorway, it says "Music and Cocktails, Where the Fabulous Play.")

Transportation and Parking:

- 200 Channels is a short 8 minute walk from the Powell BART Station (walk down 5th St to Mission St, then walk on Mission St to 6th St)

- If you drive, we often find street parking in the area.

- The Fifth & Mission / Yerba Buena Parking Garage includes Bicycle Lockers as well. It is a great option if you prefer a parking structure for your car or bike. It is a 5 minute walk from the venue.
