The essence of the Latihan is to allow and follow the spontaneous inner movements from within.
Tantric Latihan: Open Practice
Tantric Latihan is your body's native language, finally given room to speak. As the thinking mind softens, space opens for a deeper kind of listening, one that invites your body's innate wisdom to rise to the surface.
Through Tantric Latihan, you are invited to discover what a genuine "yes" feels like in your bones. Perhaps it's noticing a wave of warmth spreading through your chest as you follow an impulse, a subtle contraction in your belly as someone approaches, or a spontaneous movement emerging from deep within your body. Each sensation, impulse, and movement becomes an opportunity to listen more deeply, explore your edges, honor your boundaries, and strengthen trust in your body's wisdom. As you deepen this practice, your inner compass becomes clearer, supporting you in recognizing your desires, expressing your authentic yes and no, and moving through the world with greater embodied awareness.
Tantric Latihan: Open Practice is an advanced, self-directed container for those already experienced in somatic-forward spaces who wish to deepen their connection with their embodied wisdom. This container is a braver space rather than a safer space—one where we courageously lean into vulnerability, authentic expression, and the transformative potential of meeting our edges, while holding ourselves and one another with generosity, compassion, and care.
As an advanced practice, Tantric Latihan invites participants to arrive with a foundation of somatic awareness and a willingness to take responsibility for their own experience. This includes honoring your boundaries, noticing your nervous system responses, communicating your needs, and respecting the autonomy of others.
We recognize that growth and expansion can emerge in the space between a full "Yes" and a full "No." These moments of uncertainty can become opportunities for deeper self-inquiry and discernment, rather than something to immediately push through or resolve.
Your no is as welcome as your yes. Stillness is as welcome as movement. Choosing not to engage is as valid as choosing to participate.
Consent is never assumed in ambiguity, and there is no expectation to override your body's signals in pursuit of transformation.
If you know that immersive somatic spaces can activate fawn, freeze, or other nervous system responses that make it difficult to recognize or communicate your boundaries, we invite you to consider your readiness to attend with deep care.
While this is an advanced container, we welcome those who have experience in other somatic-forward spaces and feel ready to explore Tantric Latihan.
If you have not attended Tantric Latihan before, please reach out to Rachel prior to registering and arrive at 6:30 PM to learn about the somatic consent signals and culture of this particular container.

Latihan, meaning "spiritual exercise" in Indonesian, has its origins in the Subud spiritual movement founded by Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo in Indonesia. The practice traces back to his spontaneous spiritual experiences beginning in 1925, with the Subud organization formally established in 1947.
Over time, elements of Latihan have been reinterpreted and adapted within contemporary spiritual and Neo-Tantric traditions, including through the teachings of Osho and the work of Laurie Handlers, who has further developed and shared Tantric Latihan in modern embodiment spaces.
The practice we share is a contemporary Neo-Tantric adaptation that has evolved independently of Subud and is not affiliated with the Subud organization. While honoring its origins, our approach emphasizes surrender, spontaneous expression, and embodied awareness, inviting participants to allow movement, sound, and sensation to emerge without conscious direction.
Through this evolution, Tantric Latihan has become a practice of intuitive exploration, authentic expression, and connection with ourselves and others.
