End of Summer. Caribbean Soul. Chosen Family.
Labor Day weekend means one thing in New York β the streets fill with color, the air smells like jerk seasoning and celebration, and the city remembers how to be alive. We're channeling all of that energy into our biggest cookout of the year.
The π΄ Kinky CannaMunch Caribbean Cannabis Cookout π΄ is our love letter to the end of summer β a community potluck BBQ soaked in West Indian flavor, Caribbean music, queer joy, and the kind of afternoon that turns into a core memory before it's even over.
Come hungry. Come proud. Come ready to pass the plate and the smoke.
π½οΈ It's a Potluck β and We're Going Caribbean
This is a community cookout, which means everyone brings something to the table. All dishes are welcome β but this year we're encouraging everyone to dig into the rich flavors of the Caribbean and West Indian diaspora. Think:
π« Jerk chicken, oxtail, curry goat
π Rice & peas, macaroni pie, plantains
π₯ Mango salsa, pepper sauce, escovitch fish
π Sorrel, rum punch, coconut water
π₯§ Rum cake, pone, black cake, sweet potato pudding
No Caribbean recipe? No problem β bring what you've got and come with your appetite. We'll drop a coordination thread so everyone can see what's coming and fill in the gaps.
π³οΈ Rep Your Flag
New York is the most Caribbean city in the world outside of the Caribbean itself β and this cookout is a celebration of that. Wherever you're from, wherever your family is from, whatever island holds a piece of your heart β bring your flag and wear it proud.

Not from the Caribbean? Rep your homeland anyway. Rep your Pride flag. Rep wherever you call home. This cookout is a celebration of culture, identity, and community in all its forms β and every flag is welcome at our table.
π We Need Volunteers
This cookout runs on community energy and we need a few good humans to help make it our best one yet:
π Early Birds β We're hoping to secure tables and grills as early as 10AM. If you can show up early and hold down the spot, you will be legends. Actual legends.
π Extra Food Contributors β If you're able to bring a little more than usual to help feed the crowd, we would be endlessly grateful. Every dish counts.
If you can help with either, drop a comment below or send us a message β we see you and we appreciate you. π€
π΄ The Vibe
Caribbean music. Summer heat. The Manhattan skyline across the water. Your people around you. Cannabis passed freely with no strings attached. Flags flying from every island and every identity. Pride fits, colors, and all the joy you've been holding onto all summer long finally let loose at once.
This is it. The last big one before summer closes the door. Let's make it count.
π Getting There
π Brooklyn Bridge Park β Pier 5
πͺ Entrance across from 159 Bridge Park Drive, Brooklyn

Short walk to the park from any of these.
A Few Things to Know
πΏ Cannabis is welcome and always freely shared β never obligated, never transactional.
π³οΈβπ Show up as your full self. Pride fits, flags, colors, and all the beautiful chaos you bring are not just welcome β they're celebrated.
π« This is not a hookup event. Come for the community. Anyone who treats it otherwise won't be welcomed back.
π« No racism, homophobia, transphobia, or bigotry of any kind. This is a space for queer folks, allies, newcomers, partners, friends, and chosen family across the full spectrum.
One more summer evening. One table full of food. One community that keeps showing up for each other.
See you at Pier 5. π΄π₯π
