Trauma Resilience Yoga Training + Certification

This is an introductory program designed for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of trauma & the use of Yoga as a healing modality

This 15-hour training is an introductory program designed for certified Yoga Teachers, mental health professionals, and anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of trauma and the use of Yoga as a healing modality.

The course holds the lens of liberation and centers the process of decolonizing trauma work and the practice and teachings of Yoga to increase social equity in Yoga and mental health services.

Participants will gain insight and wisdom into cultivating trauma-conscious relationships within their communities that are culturally responsive. Through guided discussions, dynamic and interactive learning, movement and breath-work, attendees will walk away with an expanded awareness on how to best support personal and collective healing.

Open to Yoga teachers and students and mental healthcare workers. Six months of previous Yoga practice is recommended, but not required. You do not need to be a Yoga teacher to attend this training.

Curriculum

▪️ Define trauma, stress, and the three states of arousal as described in Polyvagal theory.

▪️ Identify and learn current practices in Yoga therapy for trauma and stress.

▪️ Identify and understand social justice in Yoga (i.e., implicit bias, systemic trauma, cultural appropriation vs appreciation)

▪️ Define and learn strategies to better manage stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma with 10 practical tools for self-care.

▪️ Be able to integrate a trauma-conscious lifestyle.

Training Hours

▪️ Friday, 6:00pm-8:00pm

▪️ Saturday, 1pm-6:30pm (w/ 30min break)

▪️ Sunday, 12pm-5:30pm (w/ 30min break)

12 contact hours + 3 non-contact hours (home study)

Meet Your Facilitators-

Diana Cantú-Reyna, BSN, RN is a licensed registered nurse, herbalist, community leader, grassroots organizer, integrative health guide, certified yoga instructor, and Trauma-informed educator centering resilience, ancestral healing, and deep integration. With an extensive background in pediatric trauma critical care nursing, mental health, public health, and labor rights, Diana works at the intersections of structures and health. She produces trainings and provides certifications in trauma-informed yoga, trauma-informed and culturally responsive care, stress management and resilience.

Diana is the host of the Decolonizing Healthcare podcast, a show bringing much needed historical context to our current health crisis while amplifying predominantly silenced stories, ancient wisdom, nuanced perspectives and diverse experiences around collective healing.

Diana is the Founder and Executive Director of Cultivating Self, a 501(c)3 nonprofit focusing on healing the healers, building community and mentorship programs for all kinds of healthcare practitioners. Leading wellbeing retreats, continuing education playshops, and introducing regenerative spaces to healthcare facilities, the organization specializes in serving health and healing practitioners experiencing PTSD, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout.

Dr. Mini Rattu is a State of California Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She graduated from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston Texas, completing clinical and research rotations Harris County Psychiatric Hospital, Center for Neurocognitive Addictions and Department of Neurodevelopmental studies. She completed her postdoc residency training in California at San Mateo Medical Center in the Department of Medical Psychiatry and Pain Management Clinic. Dr. Rattu also has a Master of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Rattu specializes in trauma and stress related disorders, including Post-traumatic Stress (PTSD), and Anxiety disorders, and works within a cognitive-behavioral (CBT) framework to treat mental health conditions. Dr. Rattu is also a certified yoga instructor (E-RYT-500, YACEP), health educator, mindfulness instructor, and formally trained in Compassion Cultivation and Altruism Research Education (CCARE) and Yoga for Mental Health (YogaX) at Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Rattu aims to include culturally relevant program development in her work as a provider in health and wellness. In addition to her work in private practice, she currently enjoys competing in fitness competitions, traveling to international locations, and facilitating programs at health and wellness retreats.
