Plura Rides the D 1.5 – D's Nuts

The deceptively wholesome subway ride returns with a special encore for its firmest enthusiasts!

---------------

Maybe you can't get enough of the D. Or maybe you have D envy. Perhaps you're just D curious.

Whatever the reason, the message is clear: Fetlife is hungry for more D. Luckily there's enough D to go around. Let's get riding!

---------------

Back by popular demand, RtD 1.5 revisits the part munch / part vanilla celebration of the extension of the D Line subway and the cool destinations along the way on Wilshire Blvd. Our ultimate destination will be the La Brea Tar Pits and Natural History Museum, scheduled to close in just a few weeks until the Olympics in 2028.

Information about this extension can be found on LA Metro's site.

We will aim to gather for a bite or a drink at Union Station in the scenic Fred Harvey restaurant space, then ride to the end of the line at Wilshire/La Cienega in the LAST CAR, then ride back one stop to Wilshire/Fairfax to visit the La Brea Tar Pits park and museum. The train number and car will be shared so that others can join late if needed but remember, the subways doesn't wait: if you are late you will miss the group.

The total transit time of the D Line is estimated at <21-25 minutes, the duration of this event is to allow for time at attractions and/or to ride it multiple times.

Remember that a subway car takeover, while fun, is highly unlikely: keep your behavior civil and appropriate, keep your D to yourself, and as Metro says "If you see something, say something". We will likely share space with children, commuters, and other non-consenting parties.

This is not a free ride. Riders will need fare and we will be gathering away from the platform to better coordinate going in together.

Ride the D 2 will be in 2027, I'm not currently planning to repeat this event again.
