Protocol gives power a language.

Ritual gives it meaning.

This class explores how Dominants and submissives can create protocols that are healthy, sustainable, erotic, and deeply functional without allowing structure to become theater for the ego. We will examine the difference between protocol and ritual, training and conditioning, obedience and embodied practice, while learning how repetition can transform deliberate actions into an intimate language shared between people.

Through negotiation, practical exercises, and simple training methods, we will explore how to create practices that discipline the body, focus the mind, reinforce the dynamic, and deepen connection. Because the purpose of protocol is not simply to make someone kneel. It is to make the kneeling mean something.

And the purpose of ritual is not merely repetition. It is to take an ordinary moment and make it impossible to mistake for ordinary.

Instructor: Orpheus Black is an educator, intimacy and relationship coach, professional Dominant, and three-time Leather titleholder with over 30 years of experience whose work explores power, ritual, intimacy, and the intentional construction of healthy authority-based relationships. He earned his Behavioral Health Support Specialist certification through UCLA Extension, bringing a behavioral-health-informed perspective to his work with communication, consent, protocol, and interpersonal dynamics. A nationally recognized figure in alternative sexuality and kink education, Orpheus has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Network, Showtime, HBO, Playboy TV, Hustler Magazine, and Cosmopolitan. He is also an AVN Award and Urban X Award nominee. Through his teaching, Orpheus approaches protocol and ritual not simply as expressions of power, but as practical tools for creating consistency, connection, meaning, and deeper relational presence.
