Cross-cross applesauce, but make it bondage.

Agura ties - named for the cross-legged sitting position - offer containment, compression, and control. In this workshop, we’ll explore cross-legged harnesses that work beautifully in both floor scenes and as a base for suspension.

We’ll break down construction methods that emphasize stability and comfort while also playing with tension, breath, and sensation. Expect to tie and be tied in a range of seated forms, and to walk away with tools for adapting them to different body types and play goals.

We’ll cover:

  • Anatomy and placement for (dis)comfort
  • Multiple construction methods, from bare-bones to suspendable
  • Creative and functional uses of aguras in scenes
  • How to modify the pattern for flexibility, mobility, or restraint

This class is part of our Shibari 201 class track, taught on the second Sunday and third Saturday of the month.

Shibari 201 classes focus on the technical and conceptual underpinnings of harness design: how we make patterns and why they work. You don’t need to know the pattern to attend - you'll leave with new tools, new options, and a better understanding of what your rope is doing.

You Should Know:

  • Students tying should be comfortable tying a non-collapsing single-column cuff. Not sure what that means? Join us for WHY KNOT or a Shibari 102 workshop.
  • Some familiarity with frictions - as taught in Shibari 102 classes - will be helpful.
  • Students should be comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

You Should Bring:

  • At least four pieces of rope (8 meters/30ish feet long) to tie with and a cutting tool
  • A notebook or something to take notes on
  • Curiosity and a collaborative attitude
