Shibari 301: Physics for Suspension

⏰ 4:00–6:00 PM (Doors Open: 3:45 | Doors Close: 410)

📍 Devil Mask Studio - DTLA

🎟 Ticketed for one tying pair or one auditor| Memberships Accepted

The body in suspension is a physics problem. So is yours.

Whether you're prepping to lift off or already testing the limits of your floor work, this class offers a foundation in what’s really happening when we put bodies in the air. We’ll cover key principles like force vectors, line tension, and how harness placement affects loading - and then we’ll zoom back out to look at your body, too.

From pulley systems to posture, we'll break down the physics of rope and the ergonomics of rigging. This is about tying smarter, not harder - and learning how to take care of your own body while lifting someone else's.

We’ll talk theory, walk through demos, and give you simple drills to practice at home or during Open Studio.

You Should Know:

  • This is a discussion and exercise-based class - come ready to move your body.
  • Best suited for students who’ve been working with partials or exploring vertical load - we will not be teaching uplines in this class.

🎟️ Sunday Studio Series tickets include access to that day’s Open Studio from 6:00–9:00 PM.
