200 Intermediate

6 “Foundation” Repetition Repetition Repetition, We are hard core spending time focusing on building muscle memory skills. If you have completed introduction classes and are not confident in moving into intermediate Shibari classes, then this class is for you.

  • Shibari 101 and Shibari 200: We split the 101 and 200 groups into separate areas.

Every 3rd Saturday of the Month

$30 CASH requested per person . ($35 if Zelle of Venmo)

CLASS START TIME IS 11am. DOORS OPEN AT 10:30PAM FOR CHECK-IN.

Doors open at 10:30 to allow for socializing.

Class starts promptly at 11am. Doors Lock at 11:15.

Please arrive on time to limit interruptions.

Class ends at 1 and we allow for 30 minute of recovery time. Feel free to hang out for the FREE next class which is the Rope Bottom Workshop.

(100 LEVEL) Introduction to Shibari:

ABC's of Shibari 101: Rotating curriculum 101A, 101B, and 101C

3 part series covering basics of safety, connection, decorative ties and basic negotiation, permission and consent, simple ties for scenes, and creating a scene.

Suggested Rigger Level: ALL LEVELS

Focus: Exploring basic harnesses and boundary negotiations for vibe and intent

(LEVEL 200) Intermediate Shibari

Increasing complexity and classes that move you forward from basic understanding towards increasing difficulty and knowledge. Focus moves from specialized knowledge, knots, deciphering confusing terminology, use of tension and rope directional skills, rope handling skills, rope patterns and body positions. Woven throughout: cover regions of the body, rope bottoming skills, higher levels of communication, use of tension and rope directional skills, emotion and rope handling skills, basic anatomy and hormone responses during rope scenes, more rope patterns and body positions, how to play in rope and self tying skills

Suggested Rigger Level: Completed safety classes. Know how to tie a single column, double column with your eyes closed.

101: We have videos on a 10' wide screen that accompany the class to help you visualize the ties. We have a rotating A>B>C curriculum that teaches different information in each session.

200: This is a growth out of the 101 curriculum for those looking beyond beginner level. To complement and enrich the basic Shibari lessons. Rotating curriculum. You will be in the dance area with 16' of mirrors and a large screen TV to help you visually see the instruction.

200 (Intermediate) students should bring 4 lengths of rope, and safety shears.

Rope partners are preferred but not required. We have inanimate substitutes ready to be tied. If you come to the class without a partner we will NOT pair you up.

Welcome

These classes, held every second Wednesday and 3rd Saturday at a spacious 4000 square foot working art studio, in Long Beach. They are designed for those interested in learning the basics of Japanese rope bondage. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the fundamental techniques and safety considerations of this dynamic and artistic practice. Whether you are a complete newcomer to Shibari or have some prior experience, our classes offer a welcoming and supportive environment for all skill levels. Come and discover the beauty and cultural richness of Shibari as you explore your creativity and sensuality.

The classes are designed for partnered learning. If you do not have a partner we have mannequins, pool noodles or pillows for tying. We will NOT connect you with a partner.

We will split the group based on your skill level. Please don't join the intermediate group until we have made sure you have gone through the intro.

DON'T HAVE ROPE? We have rope available for you to borrow or purchase. Bring $8 and you will receive your own personal hank of rope.

Things you should bring:

  • Tying ROPE: a couple hanks 25-30ft in length each.
  • Comfortable clothing for rope
  • Aftercare needs, a blanket to keep warm after tying.
  • Safety shears. Available for purchase if you don't have any.
  • A mat to tie on, if you prefer to use your own.

Available:

  • Water bottles, coffee, popcorn, and snacks will be offered free of charge
  • We have many soft mats for tying on.
  • Emergency supplies will be on site in the form of safety shears and a first aid kit.

Photography will only be allowed for reference. When taking photos please always make sure you no one else is in the frame. Do not take pictures of the instructors or other guests.

Be respectful towards other guests

Location: 1219 Cherry Ave. Long Beach, Ca.... Ancient Vine Studio is a working art studio so it will provide a unique setting for the events. We are located down the alley between the buildings. So if you can see the Bank of America turn around and look at the alley that runs along the blue building. Walk down the alley until you find the door with the Ancient Vine Studio sign.

PARKING: Do NOT park in any of the parking lots. They will TOW even if you have a handicap sign! Park on the streets. There is no 2 hour time limit that late at night. Do not leave anything visible in your car.
