Short Bamboo Restraint Systems with Mosaic Cat

🎟️ $200 per tying pair

Short bamboo rods can transform the structure, intensity, and spatial dynamics of grounded rope restraint. Compact and responsive, they can act as extensions of the hands, rigid anchors, levers, or frameworks through which pressure and movement are directed.

In this three-hour intermediate workshop, Mosaic Cat & her partner will explore ways of combining short bamboo rods with rope to create systems for limb fixation, leverage, controlled compression, breath-aware restraint, and dynamic positioning - all without using suspension.

Rather than treating bamboo as a decorative addition, the class approaches it as a structural tool. We will examine how its rigidity changes the distribution of tension, how small adjustments can produce significant changes in posture and sensation, and how bamboo can create restraint that is compact, adaptable, and visually expressive. The focus will be on principles and modular structures that participants can adapt to

different bodies and scenes, rather than on reproducing a single fixed pattern.

The workshop will include demonstrations, guided practice, time for experimentation, and opportunities to ask questions.

What We Will Cover

  • Selecting, preparing, and safely handling short bamboo rods
  • Understanding how rigid materials interact with soft tissue, joints, nerves, and circulation
  • How to secure limbs to bamboo
  • Creating compact limb-folding and compression structures
  • Using bamboo to connect or separate different limbs
  • Applying leverage to influence posture and restrict movement
  • Grounded restraint positions for kneeling, seated, curled, and forward-folded bodies
  • Breath-aware compression and the distinction between controlling posture and dangerously restricting breathing

You Should Bring

  • At least four lengths of rope, approximately eight meters long - additional "shorties" will be helpful. We've got the bamboo covered.
  • Comfortable clothing and hydration
  • Curiosity, care, and readiness to explore dynamic floor work

Safety Note

Rigid bamboo can concentrate force more intensely than rope alone. Techniques involving the neck, chest, joints, leverage, or compression require particular care and continuous communication. Breath-related material in this workshop focuses on awareness, posture, pacing, and consensual modulation of breathing sensations. It is not intended to teach airway obstruction or uncontrolled restriction of breathing.

Participants are encouraged to work slowly, stay within their existing level of experience, adapt all exercises to the needs of the person being tied, and stop immediately if there is numbness, tingling, loss of function, unusual pain, breathing difficulty, panic, or other signs of distress.

Refunds & Cancellations

Tickets for this event are not refundable, however they may be transferred to another customer if there is a waitlist.
