Gombé Containment System: A Containment System Designed for Masculine Bodies

Gombé is a skilled Shibari artist and professional cuddler in Tokyo, celebrated for his unique approach that combines Japanese rope art with emotional depth and care. Inspired by the spirit of shudō, his work centers on creating strong, respectful connections that encourage clients to explore their true selves. Through his sessions — whether in kinbaku or comforting embrace — Gombé provides a space for self-reflection, inner strength, and genuine human connection.

Based on the Naka style and developed through years of practical experience tying men, this workshop introduces a restraint system specifically designed for masculine bodies and larger body types.

Rather than simply teaching rope patterns, this workshop focuses on the concept of Containment: the art of creating a feeling of being securely held and enveloped through rope.

Centered around Gombé’s independently developed approach to shoulder tension, participants will learn the design principles used to distribute pressure and restraint sensations throughout the entire body.

After learning the core principles shared by all structures, participants will be introduced to three different Containment Structures.

Topics Covered:

  • The core principles of the Gombé Containment System
  • The Gombé Shoulder Containment Method™
  • Three Containment Structures
  • Approaches for masculine bodies and larger body types
  • Tension design and management
  • Creating sensations of pressure, containment, and restraint through rope design
